The active ingredient of BOTOX® (which is made by Allergan Ltd) is Botulinum toxin A, which causes muscles to relax. BOTOX® is a prescription only medicine that is injected into muscles and is indicated for neurological disorders such as limb spasticity, symptomatic relief of blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm and idiopathic cervical dystonia (spasmodic torticollis) and prophylaxis of headaches in adults with chronic migraine. BOTOX® is also indicated for bladder disorders and management of severe hyperhidrosis of the axillae, which does not respond to topical treatment with antiperspirants or antihidrotics. BOTOX® and BOTOX® cosmetic is also used to temporarily improve the look of both moderate to severe crow’s feet lines and frown lines between the eyebrows in adults.
